National Model Code Organizations

The State Building Code Council adopts several National Model Codes by reference and amends them to form the State Building Code. The Council also participates at the national level with the organizations that publish the Model Codes. For more information on the national process, see the organizational links below.

International Code Council

This group publishes the International Code series. For information on their code development process and the forms for submitting a code change proposal to the ICC or applying for a position on one of their technical committees, Click Here.

International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials

This group publishes the Uniform Plumbing Code, along with the Uniform Mechanical Code and the Uniform Swimming Pool, Hot Tub & Spa Code and the Uniform Solar Energy Energy Code. For information on their code development process, Click Here.

National Fire Protection Association

This organization publishes NPFA 54 and NFPA 58, which are adopted for use with liquefied petroleum gas in the state. They also publish many other codes and standards, including the National Electric Code and the Fire Sprinkler standards.

American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers

This group publishes the ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1 standard for energy conservation, along with numerous other standards and guidelines.
