In Section 1103.1.1, Exception 1, accessibility is not required for "Floors or portions of floors not customarily occupied, including, but not limited to, . . . mechanical and electrical equipment rooms." Does this exception apply to telecommunication equipment shelters, including requirements such as accessible doors with minimum 32-inch clear opening width and lever handles?

ANSWER:

Yes, provided the telecommunication equipment shelters are not staffed, and thus "not customarily occupied."
