If the under floor crawl space is ventilated at one square foot per 150 square foot of under floor space, as required in Sections R408.1 and R408.2, and a soil gas retarder per AF103.5.2 is provided, will radon venting and/or any other additional items be required? |

ANSWER: |
Yes. Section R103.5 requires all of the following for buildings with crawlspace foundations: 1) Ventilation provided per Section R408.2, which, as amended by the state is at one square foot of ventilation openings per each 300 square feet of under-floor area, 2) Minimum 6-ml poly sheeting soil gas retarder per Section AF103.5.2, AND 3) A 3-4-inch vertical vent pipe, extending through to 12-inches above the roof and connecting to a plumbing tee below the soil gas retarder per Section AF103.5.3. |
