SECTION: |
Section 313.8.2.1, Fire sprinkler systems
in LC Occupancies |
|
QUESTION: |
Section 313.8.2.1 requires that
a fire sprinkler system be provided for Group LC Occupancies with 16 or fewer
clients licensed to provide care for more than two clients who have an
evacuation capability level of II or III.
The EXCEPTION to this requirement is that a fire sprinkler system need
not be installed in any Group LC Occupancy licensed for six or fewer clients
regardless of the level of evacuation capability. Does the exception create a conflict for LC occupancies with 2-6
clients, having more than two clients with an evacuation capability level of
II or III? |
|
ANSWER: |
No. The exception creates a specific
requirement which applies to any Group LC Occupancy with six or fewer
clients. For a Group LC occupancy with
2-6 clients, having more than two clients with an evacuation capability level
of II or III, the code does not require an automatic fire sprinkler system. |
